    Backup Software & Virus Protection

I utilize the task scheduler to perform a scheduled backup. What I would like to do prior to backing up is turn off the virus protection (3rd party backup software suggests it) and once the backup has been completed, turn the virus protection back on.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    John

If it is running as a service, wyou should be able to control it with a (BATch) command line such as

    net stop service

See JSI Tip # 0086 and Technet

Re: Backup Software & Virus Protection

I've created a batch file and included the following line of text (Please note that the service begins and ends in a quote mark):

    To Stop Service
    net stop "name of service"

    and

    To Start Service
    net start "name of service"
