    Page Numbering (2000)

    Hi,
    I have a Word document in which I need the following:
    1) Page numbering of the current page in the header (starting on page 2)
    2) The page number of the next page in the footer, preceded by three dots.

    Example: page 5 would show 5 in the header and ...6 in the footer.

    Can anyone suggest a way to do this?

    Thanks.

    For 1), select File/Page Setup... and in the last tab, check the "first page different" box. Then click OK.
    Insert a page number in the header for page 2 (it will automatically be shown on subsequent pages).

    For 2), switch to the footer, press Tab if you want the text to be centered, or Tab twice if you want the page number to be right aligned.
    Type ..., then insert a field by typing Ctrl+F9; you will see braces { }.
    Between the braces, type = and then press Ctrl_F9 again; then type PAGE.
    Between the inner and outer closing brace, type +1. It should look like this:
    { ={PAGE}+1 }
    Finally, right click on the +1 and select Toggle Field Codes from the popup menu.

    Note: you can't type the braces yourself, you must insert them using Ctrl+F9
