    Lock Ups (Access 97)

    Hi

I have a database which in on a network, I have been having problems with people doing updates I won't mention all the problems here. But suffice to say I changed the security setting so that all users have read only rights (this is on the file security settings and not on each machine),however I still get error messages saying that the database is locked by user xxx.

I'm curious as to why this is happening.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Braddy

Just a wild guess, but is there a file named yourDBname.ldb lurking around somewhere? Possibly where the indicated user would load up the Access file.

Users need Create/Delete/Read and Write permissions to the file or they can't properly create and update the ldb file that goes with it.
