Bad Sector info. when Quick Formatting a Floppy (XP SP2)

    Hi,

When you Quick Formatted a floppy disk under the old Windows, it used to tell give you a quick breakdown of your disk info. including a mention if any bad sectors (if any).

With WinXP, you simply get an Ok dialogue box with no info.
Any ideas on how we can get it back to the old setup?

It is useful especially if you are using old floppies to know if any Bad Sectors remain.

    Thanks,

    m.q.

I don't know if this will be of help, but you can right-click on floppy A and go to Properties/ tools and it offers an "option" for checking the volumn for errors. Click on the check now command button. It will scan and fix errors; so I would suppose if there were errors it could not fix, it would say so. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Musab, you can't go back to the old style - this is how XP and its NT brethren report on the formatting of a floppy. Try Skitterbug's suggestion to see if it yields the information you're looking for. You can also search the web for disk diagnostic utilities that should be able to scan the surface of the disk and provide more detailed information.
