This operation has been cancelled... (WXpHe )

    IE version: 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.021108-19291C
I have System Administrator privileges on this pc. When I go into IE Tools/Internet |Options I receive the Message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your systems administrator." Can anyone advise please as to why this is occuring - and what I need to do to re-enable ? All help will be appreciated.

This may be by design, but it's hard to say without more insight into your configuration.

'Systems Administrator' is a bit lower in the hierarchy than 'Network Administrator'. Just because you're a system's admin doesnt' give you god-like access to the box, depending on the policies implemented. Now, that said, Are you on a corporate network or other type of network?

Mine is a small LAN of 3 Pc's. It's interesting to note that on pc1 - where I have the SysAdmin Ac I can go into IE6 Tools/IE Options - but that is not the Network Admin Ac, there is not on this LAN a Network Admin as this is a peer to peer LAN. I hope that thgis assists.

I'll have to take a look at the policy settings in WinXP later this evening, but that's likely where your problem is. You might go through the user accounts to make sure that your login is setup in the appropriate groups, etc. Hopefully I can offer more assistance later on. It sounds to me like you have installed Sypbot...

You need to reset Spybot to allow you to change your settings, or you can do it yourself in the registry...

Open regedit, Search for "NoBrowserOptions", change the settings from 1 to 0.
