    Lost Web Site Address (6)

Is there a way I can find the address of a web site that I accessed about 2 months ago. It has been erased from my history. For example, can I get a list of visited sites from DOS?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hey Lauriew,

There are a few ways to go about this, but it all depends on whether the site you accessed used a cookie or not.

If you check you cookies folder, you can see a list of all cookies stored for given sites. This might yeild some results for you...

Another way is to actually edit the index.dat file, which as far as I know is just a catalog file for the cookies you have. You could view this file from DOS, but you might get some access errors while running windows. Try typing the following into a command window:

    edit c:windowstempor~1content.ie5index.dat

This may show you the index.dat file, which is mostly gibberish, but if you read through, you can identify a site address or a few hundered sprinkled through there.

    Hope that helps!

Why not just use Google to find the site?
