Stop autologin of Windows Messenger (XP)

Hi,

Whenever a dialup connection is established Windows Messenger auto-connects.
How can I configure it to only connect upon demand?

Thanks,

m.q.

Hi, musab ~

<UL><LI>Open Messenger > 'Tools' > 'Options' > 'General' tab<LI>Uncheck 'Run Messenger when Windows starts'<LI>Uncheck 'Allow automatic sign in when connected to the internet'<LI>'OK'
I recommend you do the same in Outlook Express:<UL><LI>'Tools' > 'Options' > 'General' tab<LI>Uncheck 'Automatically log on to Windows Messenger'<LI>'Apply' > 'OK'
Thanks for that - the attached scrn. shot shows WinXP Messenger doesn't have an "Options" tab.
What now?

Regards,

The following was copied from the online help in Windows Messenger for WinXP:

To stop Windows Messenger from signing you in automatically

You can do either of the following:

1. If you are not already signed out of Windows Messenger, on the File menu, click Sign Out.
2. In the main window, click To sign in with a different account, click here.
3. In the Sign in to .NET Messenger Service dialog box, clear the Remember my name and password on this computer check box.

Hi, M.Q ~<UL><LI>MSN Messenger 5.0 > 'General' tab<LI>Windows Messenger 4.7 > 'Preferences' tab
The 'automatic sign-in' does not exist nor apply on the Windows version, but do suggest unchecking 'Allow this program to run in the background'.
