Page Subtotals (Works2000)

I am trying to help a friend set up a document that has a table starting on page 7 with amounts in column C. The document needs to print the total of all the amounts on page 2 and at the end of the document. I have gotten the document set up to do that. There is another requirement that has me stumped. Each page from 7 on needs to have the sub-total of the amounts in the table cells on that page. Does anyone have an idea how to do this. I've read Woody's book for about 4 hours and cannot figure out how to get this done.

I think this will be very difficult in Word. You would probably have to run a macro just before printing the document (and I don't want to be the one to write that macro). Excel might be more suitable than Word, but this really seems like something to do in Access.

It's up to the Word gurus to prove me wrong!

Hi cnc:
First of all, you said Works 2000. If so, I have no knowledge of Works. If you meant Word, I'm not sure if it's possible. If you are saying that you need one subtotal in the last cell on each page from 7 on, then you can try this. Create a bookmark for those cells in column C from the top cell on the page to the second to last one on the page. Do this on each page & call the bookmarks e.g. bmkpage7, bmkpage8, etc.

In the last cell in the row C on each page, use the formula:

{=bmkpage1}
{=bmkpage2}

I've attached a document to illustrate that. Let us know if this works for you.

Phil,

Works is not in my list of apps either but your thoughts on Word looked useful. However, using the attached file didn't give me anything that I expected. It's two columns of lined form with about 15 numerals showing in the second column. Nothing else I can spot. Am I missing something? I know, I usually am!

Hi Bill:
It's late (for me) , so I got lazy. What I envisioned was a table that exceeded several pages in length. The example attachment was just to illustrate that one could bookmark a series of cells & then use a field to total them. If you bookmark a whole column per page (less the last cell on a page), then you can subtotal them using the same method. Press Alt+F9 to see the field codes.

Thank you, Phil.

Alt+F9 opened the door.
