    Access XP+ADP+Run-time (Access Xp (2002))

I am curious to know of the collective experience of the loungers on using the Access XP run-time with an ADP format that will front-end a SQL Server 2000 database. We've used the ADP format quite successfully in previous projects but it was always with the "full" copy of Access and not the run-time version.

The workstation operating systems range from NT 4.0 to XP Pro. My client currently uses Terminal Services for remote connection and is seriously considering moving up to Citrix. So the double-bonus round addendum to this question is has anyone ever deployed the Access run-time in a Citrix environment? If so, how did (does?) it go?

    Thanks in advance.

I waited hoping someone with more experience than I (Charlotte????) would comment on your proposal. As far as I know the MOD package will only create .MDB databases for distribution - but others may have greater knowledge.

As to your question on Citrix, there have been a number of threads about the use of Citrix, and I do have personal experience using W2000 Terminal Services - it works pretty well. The one thing you probably want to do is to give each user their own copy of the front-end, or if you are using ADPs, the ADP file. Local tables can be a challenge with .MDB files, but we usually discourage them, and if they are required, we use an automated deployment system to refresh front-end copies when changes are required to local tables.

I haven't tried creating a runtime with an ADP, so I can't be of any assistance on this topic. My machine has not yet had SQL Server reinstalled after I switched to a DSL router instead of a modem, so I'm unable to even create an ADP, let alone try to create a runtime version. <img src=/S/sorry.gif border=0 alt=sorry width=15 height=15>
