Can you change the cursor in Word? (Word 2000 SP3)

I have a user who complains that they can't see the cursor in Word well enough, and they would like to change it. I know that somewhere I've seen the ability to change the blink rate of the cursor (maybe under Control Panel | Mouse), but is anyone aware of a way to change the size (thickness?) of the Word cursor?

This question has come up several times before, for instance in <post#=237269>post 237269</post#>. Unfortunately, there has been no satisfactory solution; the blinking insertion bar seems to be hard-coded into Word. It *will* grow in size if you set a zoom percentage above 100%.

(If you're interested, you can find more threads on this subject by searching for 'blinking cursor' or 'insertion point')

I don't know how to change the cursor thickness, however, depending on your version of Windows, you can go to StartMenu/Settings/Control Panel/Accessibility Options/Display tab/Settings button to use high contrast colors. Your user may be interested in that.
