Converting Dates to Text (2002 SP-2)

    Hello,

I am trying to populate the first column of a spreadsheet with dates for weekdays for a couple of years. I tried entering today's date in the first row and then adding one to each subsequent cell beneath. This works to get all the days in there, but there is no way that I can see to then delete all of the weekend days. Is there a way to convert the displayed date into identical text, so that I could then delete those weekend rows?

Is there a better more obvious way of doing this other than typing them all in by hand?

    Thanks,

    Rob

You can do this quite easily.
Enter the first date. Select this cell and left click the small black box on the bottom right of the cell and drag down as far as you want to go. Release the mouse button and the cells will automatically fill with the dates including weekends. A smart tag will appear, click on this and select the option "Fill weekdays".
You will be left with a column containing only weekdays.

    Tony,

Wow! Thanks. That was exactly what I was looking for. I don't know why it was not easy to find in Excel help.

    Thanks again,

    Rob
