    SOund Cards with RAM

We have several Creative Labs SB 16 AWE cards (ISA) in Pentium 1 computers (Dell) that have two slots that hold 30 pin SIMMs.
I really never have cared until someone else asked me about the same thing on their computer.
Anyone have an idea as to the who what when where and why?

If memory serves, that was to add additional memory for MIDI soundbanks. Old graphics cards would sometimes come with a socket for adding memory too. Hard to know for sure, but I think that's what they were for - expansion.
