    Malicious Script

Why would I get a malicious script in: <post#=184478>post 184478</post#> when it seems everyone else has looked at this file with no problems.

What Auntie Virus software are you using?

NAV 2003 with 23 April 2003 VD updates did not complain.

Renewed subscription on Norton Antivirus, and its up to date...Major splash screen appeared and said the Internet would have to shut down on account of it. Am enclosing pic of screen I received.

Perhaps you have been infected with something else which only became manifest when you tried to download this document. My Norton AV is up to date too (Virus definitions of 4/23/03) and it doesn't bat an eyelash at the document.

What happens if you let Norton AV repair things and then try to download the document again?

    Re: Malicious Script

Does NAV give you the option to view the script? The Lounge's scripts are pretty much the same on every post, so if you only get that message when there is a Word attachment, or only for that particular attachment, it's quite curious.

You might try toggling the "Browse in Same Window" setting in Windows Explorer for .DOC files and see if it has any effect.

I never realised that IEXPLORE.EXE was a <font color=blue>script</font color=blue>! There seems to be something rather odd about your AV software, particularly since the attachment was a Word document. My trusty Sophos antivirus found no problems with it...

    Re: Malicious Script

Ok, not sure what is truly up. Going to dig on it for a while. It only happens when I attempt to download the file at home. I am at work this morning, and the file downloads fine, and has some good tips in it, (what I was after). Will let you know if I run into anything that might help others when I find the problem.
    Thanks all,

    Re: Malicious Script

Are you downloading it (right click|Save As..) or are you just clicking on it?

If you are just clicking on it, it may be that Internet Explorer (iexplore.exe) is trying to open up Word to view the document and that is what NAV is balking at.

Try Saving the file locally first, and then open it with Word.
