A quick Google search yields relevant information, for instance http://www.tiplord.com/customizing/oemlogo.html and http://www.aumha.org/a/oemdata.php.

    Hi, Jambo ~

Depending on how savvy you are, you may wish to try your hand at modifying the 'System Properties' control panel with Resource Hacker. It allows you to to view and edit DLLs, EXEs, SCRs, CPLs & BINs. You will be able to modify the big logo instead of just adding yours beneath it.

In XP, the file sysdm.cpl will be found in C:WINDOWSsystem32.

Good to know Bruce, but why would he want to go to that trouble when this looks much more prominent and stands out pretty well?

    Hi, Al ~

It is not much trouble at all, as said above, depending on how savvy you are. It would look much more prominent to have your logo on top rather than coexisting with and beneath a lowly generic icon. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

How did you do that DOC? I'm not sure if I could use the one Bruce showed above.

You (carefully) use the utility Bruce referred to in <post#=247611>post 247611</post#>. And if that doesn't get you into enough trouble, you can stretch the envelope even further with [Virtual Plastic]. <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15>

UUUUhhh....Tim (& Ken)....I really knew I shouldn't have gone there! Some people like to mod their cases, I like to mod the shell. There are so many very slick ways to customize your environment....I will never get anything done.... <img src=/S/artist.gif border=0 alt=artist width=34 height=29>

    Re: System Properties

Love that Resource Hacker! It let me resize a few dialog boxes that were hiding some buttons with the screen resolution and dpi settings that I prefer. I was able to use them before by tabbing to the hidden buttons, if needed. but it's simpler now that they're visible. <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>

Wish something similar had been around in the early days when the only recourse was a hex editor to hack the object code directly, or (for small programs) use a decompiler to create assembler source that could be recompiled once hacked.
