Protecting against cut & Paste (all)

I have a spreadsheet (excel) which has some areas which users can enter/change data and other cells (full of calculations) which are protected so the user can't accidentally damage them.
HOWEVER if the user cuts and pastes (rather than copies) data in the "user" area, the related protected cells also move corespondingly and its all broken!
How can i protect against this? i'd prefer not to use VB code?

Re: Protecting against cut & Paste (all)

It depends on what you mean by "all is broken". If you have a cell that contains =C1, and you cut cell C1 and paste it somewhere else, then the =C1 will change to where C1 is pasted. If you delete cell C1, then you will get a #REF error. If this is what is happening, and you want the =C1 to remain =C1 after the cut delete, then what you need to do is change your formulas to look like this:

=INDIRECT("C1")

If something else is causing the problem, then you need to define what the problem is.

Re: Protecting against cut & Paste (all)

by "all is broken" i did mean that my protected formulas had been changed by the cut & paste action and hence my worksheet no longer functioned properly
The =INDIRECT("C1") sounds promissing, i'll give it a try.
    Thanks
