Taskbar where are you (Windows XP Pro)

    Here's a niggly little one

I have just upgraded all my workstations to Windows XP Pro and when the desktop appears at logon the taskbar is always hidden and you have to drag it up.

It is not set to autohide , any ideas?

My taskbar, amongst other things, sometimes forgets its settings, like whether auto-hide is on or off, too (I prefer it on). I haven't found a permanent cure, but you can "fix" it for a while. Make sure the taskbar is not locked. Then toggle the auto-hide setting and click "Apply". Check the bar behaviour. Repeat until the behaviour matches the setting, and the setting is the way you prefer. Then lock the taskbar. It should hold for a few days to weeks.
