    FILE ASSOCIATION

I have a problem with files on Windows 98, somehow when i save pictures from the internet to my desktop, they are associated with Notepad, i was wondering how you can get them back to be associated with a picture format, so they open in Paintbrush.

I believe the quickest way is:
Explorer | Folder Options | File Types
Find the file extension in question (i.e. .jpg) and it should be showing as being opened with Notepad.
    Delete the association.
Next time you double click on that file type, you should be asked what application you want to open it with, select the one you want and select 'Always use this program...'

    Or, another way:

    1. Select the file in question (here any .jpg).
    2. Hold down the shift key & right click.
    3. Choose Open with... This gets you to the same dialog box & you can tick the "Always use this program" & choose MSPAINT.

This will also delete the prior association.
