How to Stop Template Updates to protect it? (XP SP2)

    Hi,

Every now & then this dialogue box pops up when I'm typing a document.

Is it poss. to disable it?

    Thanks,

There is a long, rather rambling thread discussing this subject starting at <post#=115881>post 115881</post#>.
In that thread, a template associated with a document management system turned out to be the culprit. Do you use a document management system such as DocsOpen?

Such warns should NEVER be disabled as the warning provides an indication that there is likely a misdesigned macro or add-in operating.

When you say "typing," do you mean "saving"? I've seen that if I save the document or close it, but not simply when working on it.

You can change an attached template yourself by adding AutoText to it, or, if your styles update the template when you change them in the document, through the least obvious kinds of direct formatting. (I don't have that turned on, so this is second hand.)

It's possible that some other forces are changing the attached template, but if there's no pattern, that seems doubtful. I'd suspect the style auto-updating thing.

    Hi guys,

Have been on the road. Anyways this problem seemed to dissapear by itself!
Maybe one of those inexplicable Microsoft "features" that gets zapped when you reset your PC?!

    I appreciate your help.
