    maxlocksperfile

    Hi (first post.)

*First off thanks Woody you actually keep me interested.*

When Table Splitting I get a message to Increase my "maxlocksperfile" where is the registry. I've searched my drive for it, but get about 40 or 50 files containing the text string. I'll appreciate any response.

    Thanks.

Just to start the ball rolling I found this description on the MS site

    "MaxLocksPerFile

This setting prevents transactions in Microsoft Jet from exceeding the specified value. If the locks in a transaction attempts to exceed this value, then the transaction is split into two or more parts and partially committed. This setting was added to prevent Netware 3.1 server crashes when the specified Netware lock limit was exceeded and to improve performance with both Netware and NT." at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/sdkdoc/d...wreg01_9cqb.htm

Is this actually to do with the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESSoftwareMicrosoftJet3.5EnginesJ et 3.5 folder in the registry?

It is if you're using Access 97. If you're using Access 2000, it will be under the Jet 4.0 key.
