I have Publisher98 files which are stored on a shared drive. All users see them as Publisher files except one - she sees them as Word files, so when she tries to open them by double-clicking the icon, it tries to open in Word -- as a jumbled mess, of course. When we went into the document properties the file type is Publisher, but the icon and "opens with" show up as Word. We changed "opens with" to Publisher98 Apply'd and OK'd it, but nothing changed. Now if you go the long way around, that is, open Publisher and do a File Open, the file opens fine in Publisher. Even tried doing a Save As and putting a 2 after the name. It still shows up as a Word document in the directory. What's more when you leave Publisher and go back in neither the original nor the Save As document show up in the document history. Has anyone encountered anything like this before?
