    Converting a *.123 File

A friend just switched from Lotus SmartSuite to MS Office 2K. Only problem is, he can't open any of his *.123 files in Excel without first opening them up in Lotus and saving them to a *.wk4 file.

Does anyone have any suggestions or downloads that will allow these files to be opened directly in Excel?

    Thanks.

Is the Lotus 123 converter installed from the Converters and Filters options in Office setup?

Yes. *.wk4 files convert fine; it's just the *.123 files that have a problem.

    Re: Converting a *.123 File

I wasn't aware that Smartsuite saved worksheets with a "*.123" extension; -if- all you need to do is change all such file extensions, from the DOS prompt, in each applicable directory, run:

    ren *.123 *.wk4

Another thing that was easy to do in DOS is inconvenient in Windows.
