    CopyTable (All)

WAW 5.07 (and 101) discussed copying tables. Copying linked tables does copy only the link. Because I keep the back-end data from the users conscious knowledge, I create queries of the tables. You can then transfer the query in code:

DoCmd.TransferDatabase acExport, "Microsoft Access", strTargetDB, acTable, strQName, strTName

strTargetDB is the target database, acTable says to copy it as a table, strQName is the query name, strTName is the target table name:

Are you asking a question here?

No, Pat, I'm not asking a question. As a new member I didn't find a place to simply comment. This is just an extension on a topic I read in WAW.

Your initial post sounded like you might have had a particular thread in this forum in mind. If you use the Lounge Search feature to look for instances of transferdatabase or "copy table" in this forum, you'll find lots of discussions on this topic and you might want to add your ideas there. We don't have any direct connection to the newsletters, so just because something appeared in one of them doesn't mean anyone will necessarily pick up on whatever the topic in that issue might have been ... or that Woody or Helen Feddema will notice your comments here. The volume of posts in the Lounge make it pretty nearly impossible for anyone to view them all, even Woody! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

If you just want to exchange freeform ideas, the Scuttlebutt forum gives you all sorts of room for that. If the moderators notice that a thread there really belongs in this or some other forum, we'll move it to the most appropriate location.
