    SECURITY OF ITEMS (ACESS 2000)

I want to secure an item. I have a table listing customers and items. The database is on a shared server so that all of the customers can view it at any time. I don't want customers to be able to look at the items owned by another customer. How would I go about accomplishing this?

Re: SECURITY OF ITEMS (ACESS 2000)

You will need to set user-level security in the database and give each user a username and password to log into the database.
Base all forms and reports on queries that have CurrentUser() in their criteria. See the thread starting at <post#=216259>post 216259</post#> for another discussion of this topic.

For more info on user-level scurity, see <!mskb=165009>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 165009<!/mskb>. Also, Access moderator <!profile=WendellB>WendellB<!/profile> has a useful security tutorial on his website (there is a link in his profile; look for Support, then Tutorials).
