    Help. Re-Install

    Hi all.
I'm in a bit of a pickle here and don't know how to get out of it.

Here's what I'm trying to do.
Build a second pc from two old ones.

I've fitted a new (second Hand) hardrive from a redundent machine and cannot get it to boot from cd to load windows.

I don't have the bios settings so don't know what to do.

If I boot from a Windows Boot disk, all I get is the A: prompt.
If I boot from cd, i get errors saying files missing from config.sys etc

    Help !!!!!!!!!!!

Are you trying to Format the Hard Drive?

Thanks Cowboy, but I managed to fix it by bypassing the config file.
    All is well now.

I know you've stated all is well, but I'm curious: were you trying to boot with the Windows 98 CD? If not, what was the CD that you were booting with?

    Re: Help. Re-Install

From time to time if I want to clean things up a bit, I do a re-install.
Format the C: drive and bott from the Windows 98 cd changing the bios.

I've always done it this way and never come against any problems.
