    Resetting Footers (Word 2000)

    A member of staff has brought me his latest book (500+ pages) to have a look at because he's having trouble getting page numbering to behave. On checking it there seem to be multiple page numbers on lots of pages, others that are the wrong number for that page, etc. A mess! The book is split into many sections, some linked to the previous section, some not.

    My request is for a code snippit that will let me go through all the footers deleting what is there and linking sections where necessary. Any help gratefully received.

    Welcome to the Lounge, Magrat.

    In fact, if you link the footers to the previous section, you won't need to remove their contents. Here is a macro that will link all footers to the previous section:

    Sub LinkFooters()
    Dim i As Integer
    For i = 2 To ActiveDocument.Sections.Count
    With ActiveDocument.Sections(i)
    .Footers(wdHeaderFooterEvenPages).LinkToPrevious = True
    .Footers(wdHeaderFooterFirstPage).LinkToPrevious = True
    .Footers(wdHeaderFooterPrimary).LinkToPrevious = True
    End With
    Next i
    End Sub
