My system is multiple boot, so Win 98 does not start to boot until I select Win 98 in the boot menu.
Apparently, that causes a timing problem and it ignores my hitting the F5 key.
I could change boot.ini to make Win 98 the default, but the NT loader may still get in the way.
The actual problem is on my sister's computer.
In her case, since Win 98 won't boot, perhaps it is already giving her the option of starting in Safe Mode.
I've sent her email to find out whether Win 98 will start in Safe Mode.
