    Wake on Modem

    Hi All,
A coworker tells me that her new XP computer turns on by itself while she is away at work. She says that if she disconnects the phone cable that it will not happen.

I suspect some kind of wake on modem feature. Where does one look to enable/disable such a feature?

I don't know what kind of computer or what version of XP she is using.

Control Panel > Phone and Modem Options > Modems > Pick your modem > Properties > Power Management > Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby

Should be in BIOS setup under Power Options or Management. Most the time it is Enabled or Diabled through CMOS { Bios } Setup. Somtimes it can be a jumper setting but my bet is, it is BIOS controled.

Very good. I have DSL so I have never seen this option. Cool I hope that takes care of the problem because some people are not comfortable with CMOS Setup.
