Midi to WAV converter

I read with interested the thread <post#=245287 >post 245287 </post#> about converting MP3 to WAV, and now I'm curious about converting MIDI to WAV. I want to add some MS musical snippets (in midi format) to a Flash movie, however Flash only accept wav formatted files.

Suggestions?

Re: Midi to WAV converter

Catharine, I looked for something a while back to do this too and never got around to trying it - I ended up kludging it with my soundcard and got decent results. I stumbled across Midi2Wav Recorder 2.0 in my search which might do the trick for you.

http://www.nothingbutsoftware.com has the software Digital CD Recording Studio II ...which I purchased for the main purpose of converting midi to wav...which works great! Check it out.

Hi Mark, Ive not been much into downloading music from the net coz of my old machine, but wondered about this question on midi's, when I log onto a web site and select a midi, it opens WMP (which I hate) and plays, there does not seem to be an option to save the file (so I can convert it). It seems I have to be logged onto the site to hear it, is this correct with midi's or am I on the wrong track (no pun intended)

In many cases, it is possible to right click the link to the MIDI file and select Save As...
If not, you can always try to find the .mid file in your Temporary Internet Files folder after it has played, and copy it to another folder.

Catharine, did you find software that would convert WAV to MIDI - the opposite of what you posted originally? I am trying to locate something that will do a decent conversion for cellular ringtones.

I know little about WAV and nothing about Midi, but there are lots of Google hits on "convert WAV midi".

No doubt you've been there and found them wanting, though.

(The idea of a "cellular ringtone" seems ever so slightly surreal to my ears, presumably because us British chaps have "mobile phones" rather than "cell-phones". Strange how the words develop differently - in Germany the thing is called a "Handy"!)

Re: Midi to WAV converter

I did find one utility named IntelliScore but no matter what I do, the beat pattern seems off. And here all this time I thought I was a musician, whether anyone knew it or not.

My preference would be to find a reliable source of MIDI formatted files that I can use as ringtones. Certain songs remind you of certain people, and I have a new toy to play with!
