Error Message

Recently a message has started popping up when I am using IE that says:

Msbb has caused an error in DDEML.DLL. Msbb will now close. If you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer. I get the same message, although not as often, with the Ignore or Close options. It seems, though, when I click close or OK, depending on the message, I don't really see anything happen on screen - or else it is happening so fast I don't even see it.

Does anyone know what Msbb is and what it does - and how I get rid of the annoying message?

    Thanks.

According to <!mskb=320162>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 320162<!/mskb> and <!mskb=317714>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 317714<!/mskb>, msbb is part of n-CASE

n-CASE is a real-time comparison shopping engine that may be installed when you install other free software applications

The solution seems to be to uninstall n-CASE; see the MSKB articles for instructions.

n-Case is also 'Spyware'...daughter had it listed and didn't know what it was...I did some checking with Spybot & Ad-aware & SpywareBlaster...all 3 stated it was spyware...so it was uninstalled.

    Re: Error Message

I could no find n-Case on my computer when I went into Add/Remove Programs. However, when I went into msconfig, I did find and unchecked msbb so we'll see if that helps. I can't tell you what an irritation it is to have these things happen because of others who put files on our computers w/o our knowledge or permission1

    Thanks so much.

    Re: Error Message

It could be coming from another spyware application as well. You might do yourself a favor and download, install and run (on a somewhat regular basis) AdAware or Spybot Search and Destroy, two oft-discussed Lounge favorites.
