    Font Size (OE6)

Using OE6, IE6 and Windows XP, in OE I have gone to Tools | Options | Fonts and set the font size to Smaller. However, the print preview and print are always in the font size set for IE6. In IE I want the font size to be Medium so there is a conflict.

If OE relies on the setting in IE, I don't see the point of having a font setting in OE.

If it does not rely on IE, then I don't understand why I am having this problem.

Can somebody explain the logic or at least confirm that it is normal behaviour please? Also is there any reasonable workaround please?

Hi Peter, Set up your OE fonts within OE. Launch OE, go into TOOLS>OPTIONS>COMPOSE>FONT SETTINGS, select the desired font, size and color, then click OK and APPLY. This should default to whatever you have chosen. HTH. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

    Hi

I have set up my fonts in the way you describe. That is fine as far as the on screen appearance is concerned but printing takes its size from IE. That is what I cannot control from OE. Sorry I did not make that clear before.

It means that I have to have IE set to smaller for printing and revert to medium for browsing.

    Re: Font Size (OE6)

Hi again, Im using OE 6, on 98SE, and it prints the way it shows on screen colors, fonts and size. Perhaps it is different on another platform though I cannot see why it would be. My MSIE is set to medium as well, perhaps someone else cant test their printing and see if they have the same result as you. Have not seen it work any other way, and I am using several different machines but all with OE 6, all print as it is seen on screen. Have you tried blocking only the text and printing that to see if its still stuck in small?

I also wonder if it it the version of IE that is relevant. Before receiving any replies here, I posted the query on a newsgroup as well. There an MVP has indicated that OE and IE use the same print engine so the result I am getting is exactly how it is designed to work.
I'll have to check it out on some other PCs.

    Re: Font Size (OE6)

    Peter,

I have seen the same behavior you have in OE6 under Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The text setting size in OE changes the size you see on the screen, but not the size when printing. This is controlled by the text setting in IE.

The Compose font option just affects new messages that you type, it does'nt affect the display of messages you receive.
