    Red numbers in brackets

When one hits the Lounge, you see all the forums, and for each forum the number of threads and posts. But to the right of these, red numbers in brackets appear. What do they mean? I supposed they indicated the number of new threads/posts during the last day, but I really doubt there have been 25,000 new posts in just one day in the Access forum!!!! (see attached)

    Anyone?

    Re: Red numbers in brackets

They are the number of un-read posts and/or replies since you last visited that Forum - at a guess there have been around 25,000 posts made in Access either since you last ventured into that forum or possibly since you joined the Lounge!
You can clear down all un-read markers by clicking on the <IMG SRC=http://www.wopr.com/w3timages/markallread.gif> icon top right of the main index if you want - I tend to do it every few days.

And, those red numbers for me are FAR more important since I hardly ever visit the Main Index. On my Personal Control Panel list of forums I frequent, the un-read indicators give me my "reading assignment" for every visit to The Lounge!

    Re: Red numbers in brackets

I'm almost the complete opposite to you Al. I login to the Control Panel, hit the first forum with red numbers, then use the Main Page for all the rest of my reading. I tend to look for the low values, so I know which forums I go to.

    Besides, I like clicking the yellow arrows more than the <font color=blue>Controls</font color=blue> tag <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>.

    Leif, Al, Chris,

    Thanks for your responses! Admittedly I'm not much into Access <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
