    Printing zip barcode (Access 2000/xp)

Having reinstalled Windows xp after a format I lost the zip font that I found here. I use it to print zip codes on labels inside Access. Unable to search for the post so asking again if anyone knows where I can get the zip code font.

This was the first link with a download I found in Google: http://www.granitebear.com/download.htm. The zipcode font is near the end. Right click the link to the font and select Save Target As... After downloading, use the Fonts control panel to install the font.

Word allows us to print ZIP code barcodes directly onto envelopes and labels. Obviously the barcode font is somewhere in Office--isn't there some way for Word to share that capability with other Office applications?

I'm afraid I'm no help here. The zip barcode capability is not available in the Dutch version of Word. But I suppose that a barcode font comes with the US English version of Office.

It seems that the Lounge is not alone in having problems with searching; all my attempts at searching the Microsoft Knowledge Base end in "Sorry - no information was found".

Only if you print the labels by doing a mail merge to Word. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

Charlotte: Thanks for that information. Seems strange that Kaiser Bill would make it work just that one way.

I'm not even sure Word uses a regular barcode font for that, at least not an installed font. I know that I don't have a barcode font installed, but Word offers the postal barcode on envelopes. With other apps, barcodces are used for a variety of things, not just for postal barcodes, so you need a font to translate the information into the printed representation of the codes. And do remember that none of the various development groups are allowed to talk to each other because they might <img src=/S/shocked.gif border=0 alt=shocked width=15 height=15> "conspire" against the competition. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
