    Hi Bruce

I've used Spider for a long time now and it seems to do the job well on IE5. I'm curious as to why you set the Options the way you do. I've never understood the purpose of "Options", since the "Cleanup" dialog settings appear to override the Options anyway. I have a separate cookie management program, which retains any cookies I want, so I set Spider to delete them all, which gets rid of all the junk ones.

    I think I basically use it the same way as you do, but I don't really understand why <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>.

    Hi, Alan ~

The options are set as such because it only cleans what you scan. It is set to 'Windows directory only' by default and unless you set it to 'Complete HardDrive' do you insure all proper database files (index.dats) are flagged for removal upon reboot.

As far as the rest of the settings in that particular window, my experience as a result of supporting hundreds of individuals w/ this app, it has been determined that this minimizes the confusion between the identically appearing 'Select' window.

Thanks Bruce. Are you saying that any file named "index.dat" will be deleted if 'Complete HardDrive' is selected? If this is the case, I'll certainly watch out for it.

    Hi, Alan ~

Keep in mind, it will clean what has been scanned first. If you scan only the 'Windows' directory, any 'index.dat' file outside of that directory will not necessarily be flagged during scan for removal upon subsequent reboot. Depending on your configuration, most are typically held in the <Username>'s particular branch.
