    Sharing AutoCorrect Settings

Can anyone tell me where Word stores the settings in the four tabs in the Tools-AutoCorrect dialog box? (Registry, Normal, acl file? I'm confused.) If I want other computers that already has Office installed on them to have certain AutoCorrect (and AutoFormat) settings, how do I set those (other than actually changing it in Word)?

    Thank you so very much!!!

    Re: Sharing AutoCorrect Settings

The settings/preferences themselves are stored in the WordDataSettings value of the Registry.

This article covers the primary settings that are stored in this value:
    <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customization/DataKeySettings.htm>http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customizatio...KeySettings.htm</A>

Note that the Settings value stores preferences from Tools/Options and other misc preferences as well, not just those found in AutoCorrect.

You can transfer just the AutoCorrect dialog box preferences via a macro as described in the article. If you use a macro then you can control which Settings are transferred

You can also transfer the entire Data key by exporting the branch (Registry/Export Registry File) and merging the resulting file (*.reg) on the target PC. To merge just open (double-click) the *.reg file.

The actual AutoCorrect entries are stored in *.acl files. If want to share these with others then this article covers how this can be accomplished:
    <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customization/ExportAutocorrect.htm>http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Customizatio...Autocorrect.htm</A>
