Footnotes and Section Breaks (Word 2000)

Has anyone any idea why Footnotes on pages with Section Breaks don't go to the foot of the page? Simple Page Breaks are fine, just any type of Section Break causes problems.

    Hello Magrat,

I haven't seen this behavior. Could you post a small sample document that demonstrates the problem?

BTW How are Granny and Nanny?

Hummm! When I pasted three pages around one of these Section Breaks into a new document, the problem disappears. In the original there is about 1cm gap between the bottom of the Footnote and the Footer margin. I've just copy/pasted the whole document to a new doc. Problem solved. Don't cha' just love Word!

    P.S. Granny's drunk again!

I had the same experience. Footnotes just before a section break appeared several lines up the page, shortening the page with the result that some lines of text then went to the next page. I copied the whole file to the clipboard, made a new file based on the normal template, pasted in there, attached the original template (without updating styles) and all works perfectly again.
