    IE6 Tools>Internet Options>Resticted by website (IE6 / WinXP)

It seems I stumbled onto a website which hijacked my IE settings. It added web pages to my favorites list, changed my default home page to a search page and, worst of all, locked out changes to Tools>Internet Options. When I try it, I get a popup window that states: "Restrictions: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I am the sole user of this machine and it is not networked. I've managed to change the default home page back to blank and get rid of the favorites entries, but still can't access Internet Options.

Also, in Control Panel>Internet Options, the Home Page address is grayed out and can not be changed. I have search through the lounge for clues, tried reinstalling IE, running sfc /scannow, run SpyBot and Adaware, all to no effect. I have ZoneAlarm running and Norton AntiVirus.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. I'll try it. I saw mention of this program in one of the threads.

Ken... Thanks eversomuch! HijackThis found it and fixed it:

    "O6 - HKCUSoftwarePoliciesMicrosoftInternet ExplorerRestrictions present"

It's just unbelievable how unsecure IE is in this day and age. Arg!

Is there anyone who can look over the whole HijackThis printout and advise me on how much I can get rid of?

    Thanks again.
