    Error Reporting (IE6SP-1)

There is that d--- message box that incessantly pops up about Internet Explorer errors, asking if you want to report to Microsoft, and if you want to restart Internet Explorer.

Is there any way to turn this off?

If you are using Windows XP, go to "Help and Support" and type in error reporting in the search pane. You will find the instructions.

If you do NOT report these problems how is Microsoft expected to know about the problem so it may get fixed?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Guys: my fault... I'm using Win98SE

    Dave:

I have nothing "against helping Microsoft... but at the same time, since I do a greta del of testing etc., it'ld be nice to be able to shut it off now and again...

    Bruce:

I have no such option in "My Computer"... WinXP option?

    Hi Chuck:
I have Win98 SE. As I recall, when the dialog box pops up, there's a little box at the left bottom of it that can be checked. I don't remember if you check or uncheck it to avoid the notice.

    Re: Error Reporting (IE6SP-1)

Chuck, what Bruce described is a WinXP only option. There is a separate component of IE that enables error reporting that can be downloaded/installed from the Windows Update website (and may come along for the ride with other versions of IE). You might want to look at article 276550 in the Microsoft Knowledgebase to see if it addresses your problem.

Could you post exactly what you did to correct the problem? Thanks.
