Can anybody help me, how to create Word macro to call external application, e.g. Character Map, Calculator or so on?

You can use Shell "appname" to open an external application. You need to know the name, and in many cases the full path, of the application executable. For accessories such as the calculator and character map or Notepad it is easy, since these can be called without specifying the path:

    Shell "calc"
    Shell "charmap"
    Shell "notepad"

For others, you will probably have to specify the path.

Note: Shell will just open the external application. You won't be able to control it from Word. If you want to control another application such as Excel or PowerPoint from Word, you must use Automation, which is much more powerful but also more complicated. It involves creating an application object for the external application, and using the methods and properties of that object.
