Delay on browsing on folders (XP SP1)

While working on any application, e.g., Word, Excel, etc., when I click on "Lookin" to change folders, theres a few seconds delay, sometimes more. Is there a way to fix that?

Could be a number of things, but for starters, go to Folder Options and un-check the first box for automatically checking for network folders and printers. See if that makes a difference. Let us know.

    Hi Big Al:

Yes, that option is already unchecked.

    Any other ideas?

I don't know that there's a cure for the ill you describe. I believe it's because Windows is populating the list of folders when you click on that. It is more noticeable on some machines than others, but it is an interesting phenomenon. I know one thing that causes this to be exacerbated is having a CD in a drive, and mapped network drives (as opposed to "Network Places").
