Network protocol order on XP Vs 2000 (xp sp1)

On my windows 2000 machine I know i can change the order of my network protocols on an office network to speed up log on and file loading. I moved up ? odi above TCIP ( i don't have my machine in front of me so trying to remember the names)
On my new XP machine I don't see where I can move protocols around to customize and speed things up??

Open the Network Connections folder and then click on the Advanced menu. From there, choose Advanced Settings... and you will see your network bindings and their order of preference.

Thanks And on my new machine I don't see NetBeui and when I try to add it as a new protocol it is not an option. Do i not need it with XP Prof now and /or do I nned to be connected to the LAN for it to appear as an option or self install??

Microsoft did not include NetBEUI with Windows XP. That's why you can't see it. It can be installed, however - follow the steps in Article 301041 in the KB. There's a link at the bottom of the page to another article describing this very issue. Happy networking!

I don't know that it will speed things up, necessarily - there are many factors involved. If NetBEUI is enabled on other networked machines, and it has a higher priority in your bindings, it could. If it's working fine I would leave it as is, though. There's not much sense in having network protocols loaded that you don't explicitly need.

    Jerome--
