Free/Busy Office Service (XP)

Hi

We have a user who would like to Publish his Outlook Diary to the Web so that someone working in a different organization can view it (note: the person in the other office doesn't use Outlook).

I know that there is the MSOffice Internet Free/Busy Service, which I've tried twice to setup, but it never works, and I'm wondering if there is something wrong with it.

I have done all that is required:
I've enabled the 2 checkboxes for 'Publish and Search . . . ' and 'Request . . .'
I've signed in with Passport
I've invited people

I've then tried to view my own calendar (which I presume should be published), but it just comes up grey, as in 'not available'.

Am I missing something.

Is there another way to allow someone to view an Outlook Calendar (I presume not, but it's worth asking).

Thanks heaps in advance for any advice.

Brian

You can also publish to the Internet or an Intranet site. Check out Tools | Options | Calendar Options, Free/Busy button. This lets you set up a publishing schedule and a location.

Thanks, but I've already checked/ticked those boxes. Also, wouldn't I need an FTP username and password in order to be able to write files to an Intranet/Internet folder?

Sorry, I don't know all the ins and outs of web servers. I know I can point this process to our intranet site and it works fine. But for the personal site provided by my home ISP I have to use FTP to put files out there. I use WSFTP for that and it is set with a username and password specific to that function.

I've tried both version, and neither works.

It's not like it's overly complicated. Just tick a couple of checkboxes, sign in with .Net, and that's it. But it is definitely not working. I've waited a couple of days to see whether it was being done on a schedule, but it's still 'Unavailable'.

I wonder if our Firewall is somehow blocking Outlook publishing this? It's *very* frustrating.
