    Registered User (Office XP)

I just had to reinstall all my software, now the registered used for office is Gateway-User for company Gateway. How do I change it to my own?

    Close all running Office programs.
Click Start | Run, type REGEDIT and hit Enter.
    Then navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftOffice10.0Common UserInfo
On the right pane, you will see following entries: (Default), Company, UserInitials, UserName. Highlight and rename any of the last three you want to change (for example, rename UserName to oldUserName, Company to -Company or whatever). Close Regedit and open Office program (say, Word). It will prompt you to input new user name and company.
To reverse it, simply delete new UserName entry and rename oldUserName to UserName.

Very useful reply, BUT what about the splash screen - I have been asked this before, and I must admit it bugs me a little - my wife's computer still shows her MAIDEN name and I'd love to be able to change this too - any way of doing it?

After you make the registry changes suggested by kaplinb, there's one more. You need to delete the DATA key. See <post#=197827>post 197827</post#> for the last step & also for backing up Options before you do this.
