    Online kitchen designing

I am looking for an online kitchen designing programme. I have looked at the one on the M. F. I. web site and that's rubbish. B and Q don't appear to have one!

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

I just played with the Ikea kitchen design program, and well it is excellent! Even if you're not ready to modernise your kitchen, it's worth the download just to play with it. Marvellous piece of software, thank you, thank you, thank you.

    Re: Online kitchen designing

I used Sierra's "Home Architect 2.0" a couple of years back to rough out the plans for my renovations, which doubled the size of the house and added a top floor. I looked at, and tried out, several products in my price range (free/cheap) before I settled on HA. The functionality is similar to the nice Ikea freebie, but more flexible. Serious CAD users would laugh at it (rightly so), but I found it great for quickly trying out different design concepts. The best parts were being able to do 3D walk-thrus and viewing. It was a better, and faster, communication tool when trying to explain my ideas to others who had trouble understanding normal plan drawings. It can print plan drawings, but dimensioning is crude. After a few tries, I decided to draft my own working drawings by hand. It's print outs were a handy reference though, and are good enough to pass onto a draftie or architect to work from.

I'm now using it review furniture placements, and rough out colour schemes, as the renovation is finally getting to the end. Again, it's just an interim tool, easier and quicker to use than cardboard cut outs (or real furniture) and paint samples. With it we should get our colours down to 2-3 options and then hit just a few sample pots to confirm final selections.

Unfortunately, HA seems to have been discontinued, although it has progressed on to at least version 3.0 (might upgrade if I spot a discounted copy locally). These links might help Sierra Home Architect 3.0 & LandDesigner 6.0 Double Pack , Sierra Architect 3D Design, Home Architect 3.0 by Sierra.

PS Would have replied earlier but my ISP was "experiencing issues with its core routers" with the result that I was "encountering inability to connect and if connected, network isolation".
