    (re)Installing Office Developer (2000)

Have been reinstalling a Win2K boot. The partition has been reformatted and Office 2k went in there early on.

For some reason MOD 2000 (1.5) keeps insisting that Office 2000 is not installed and so shuts off half the options - including the Code Database.

I have successfully used the same disks (both Office 2k and MOD) more than once before - although they were 2k Pro and not 2k Server installs. Any idea which Registry Key(s) it is drawing a blank on? (Have tried the obvious bits like running some code and re-setting macro security. Nothing yet to light on MSKB or Google.)

I've seen the same phenomenon on my Win2k Pro laptop when I tried to reinstall 2000 MOD, also 1.5. I suspected the presence of Access 2002 affected it, but I've never found a good answer either.

Charlotte, thank you for confirming your original post. <UL><LI>Perhaps your issue was not connected with Access 2002, as I have successfully installed MOD 2000 1.5 on an Office XP/WinXP boot. <LI>I have previously installed MOD 2000 1.5 without problems on this same laptop - a Sony Vaio.<LI>One of the few differences in this current configuration is that I have SQL Server 2000 on the same boot. Could that have affected you also?[/list]

    Re: (re)Installing Office Developer (2000)

Well, I did have SQL 2000 on this machine, at least until I got DSL and had it go sideways. I eventually uninstalled SQL and tried reinstalling, but it wouldn't work. Since I switched to a DSL router instead of a modem, I haven't tried reinstalling either the developer tools or SQL 2000. I know that I couldn't install the MSDE or SQL 7 from the tools because of having had SQL 2000 on the machine, but I figured that was just because SQL 7 didn't support multiple versions and the registry hadn't been thoroughly cleaned out. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

Re: Office Developer 2000 & SQL Server 2000

If I bite the bullet and roll back the re-install, I will let you if SQL Server 2000 proved to be the "breaker".
I know, from experience, that installing SQL Server 2000 Tools & Connectivity doesn't break an existing MOD 2000 1.5 installation.
I have not got into the Access Workflow Designer enough to know whether it would run with SQL Server 2000, but MOD 2000 1.5 will happily volunteer to install it where SQL Server 2000 is running.

Unfortunately, the search feature has had to be disabled temporarily. See <post#=250092>post 250092</post#>.

One of my posts above referred to my (rather hazy) memory of a post about 12 months ago by Charlotte. Had the search engine been running, then I would have reopened that thread; rather than starting a new one. Fortunately, Charlotte replied.
I struggle just as much as you without the search engine. Sorry if I confused you.

Yes, but the workflow tools require IIS, etc., and I had no desire to install those. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
