Dis like picture and Fax viewer Default (xp sr1)

Would like to double click in wiindows explorer and directly go to microsoft photo editor and not have to have an intermediate stop at windows picture and fax viewer for jpg files.

Windows XP has "View" as default action for jpg files. If you associate jpg files with Photo Editor, the "Open" action activates that application.
You can right-click a jpg document and select open. You might also try to set "Open" as standard action (in Windows Explorer, select Tools | Folder Options, File Types tab, select .jpg, click Advanced..., select Open, click Standard...)

I may be crazy, but everything that you mentioned is set that way, but it still wants to opent first in the windows picture and fax viewer and then you have to push ctrl E and it opens automatically in photo editory. Can't seem to get rid of this intermediate step

Does right-click, then select Open from the popup menu work for you? It's not what you wanted, but at least you don't open Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

No, because I usually select say 5 jpg files at one time from the camera disc to load into microsoft photo editor and then tile them.
If you select 5 and right click only loads one file not all 5.
Maybe a visual basic "macro" that will go "non stop" to msft photo editor??

Again not exactly what you wanted but could you open photo editor first and then open the .jpgs once you're in?

Cant open ie highlight 5 files at a time only single files. Have to open each individually what a pain.

If Photo Editor is already open, you can select any number of graphics files in a folder in Windows Explorer, then drag and drop them to the Photo Editor window; if that is not visible, drag them to the Photo Editor icon on the task bar, wait until Photo Editor pops up, then drop them.

If I select 5 .jpg files in Windows Explorer, right click one of them and select Open, all 5 are opened in Photo Editor <img src=/S/scratch.gif border=0 alt=scratch width=25 height=29>

    Hi, Jerome ~

I, too dislike the 'Windows Picture and Fax Viewer' and found that trying to associate via the 'File Types' tab in 'Folder Options' does not work for some reason. I have, however, resolved this easily and MS PhotoEditor opens all JPGs by default automatically:<UL><LI>Right-click any '.jpg' file > 'Open With' > 'Choose Program...'<LI>Select 'Microsoft Photo Editor' from the 'Programs' list<LI>Check the 'Always use the selected program to open this kind of file' box<LI>Click 'OK'<LI> ~ Voila! ~[/list]
