Re: Mail merge/Excel datafile to email (Office XP)

    In Outlook, it's <post#=253081>post 253081</post#>.

Is the resulting mail message in HTML format? If so, and the link still doesn't come over, you might have to generate the messages another way. Being an Office 2000 user, I've had to resort to automation (VBA) on more than one occasion.

Mail merge/Excel datafile to email (Office XP)

(Edited by KarenWright on 14-May-03 16:03. Found the answer)
Hi all.
I have a mail merge main document in Word that contains email addresses, inserted using a hyperlink in Word. I have an Excel datafile that contains the details of the people to whom I wish to send this email, including their email addresses.

When I do the mail merge to email - the links that were a part of the original main document have been converted to text, instead of staying as a link.

Does anyone have any ideas at all where I should be looking? (I "thought" I'd posted this on the Outlook forum but now can't find it there, so apologies if it is listed twice.)

I have now found the answer, but thought I'd leave the post in case anyone else had the same query. Apparently it is a "bug" corrected with service release 2. However, there is a "workaround" - see microsoft knowledge base article 287004 for this.
