Stealing a Macromedia Flash Web presentation (IE 5.x or 6.x)

    <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29> Loungers

    Its me <img src=/S/bagged.gif border=0 alt=bagged width=22 height=22> and I want to steal a Macromedia Falsh 6.x web presentation that I found very neat.

Is it possible? When I right-mouse click on the presentation, I don't see any "Save Target..." options, so I looked at the HTML code and all I could see was a line that read:

    <font color=blue>"TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash">
    </OBJECT> </div></font color=blue>
    "

    Now what?

Thanks, and please don't tell anyone that I am doing this stealing. they might get angry and give me a <img src=/S/bash.gif border=0 alt=bash width=35 height=39>
    <img src=/S/compute.gif border=0 alt=compute width=40 height=20> in the <img src=/S/bagged.gif border=0 alt=bagged width=22 height=22>

Re: Downloading a Macromedia Flash Web presentatio

    <big>Thou shalt not steal!!</big>

That said, you can download anything for which you can find a URL, but you need to create a little HTML page and a link for it. For example:

    Download banner_GBcassi_486x60.swf
    which yields
    Download banner_GBcassi_486x60.swf

Then you simply open the page in your browser, right click the link, and Save Target As...

Now, it's up to you to figure out the URL. Do not tell us what site it is.

    Hi, Wassim ~

When you look at the HTML source code where you did, you will find the file that would be named <filename>.swf. Once you know the name of the '.swf' file, go to 'Cocuments and SettingsWassimLocal SettingsTemporary Internet Files' and it will be in there. Simply copy it to another location (you can't move it).

You know I am truly ashamed of myself, <img src=/S/bagged.gif border=0 alt=bagged width=22 height=22>. And its not because stealing is in itself <font color=red>Bad</font color=red>, but because what I want to download is on the US Department of Justice's web site.

You know, my philosophy is that if you want to commit a stealing of a web presentation, at least do it with style. <img src=/S/clever.gif border=0 alt=clever width=15 height=15>

Thanks for the info, I did not see anything to point to a downloadable in the code I pasted, so I'll still be the nice guy <img src=/S/noevil.gif border=0 alt=noevil width=25 height=17> as I am always, and forget it, and ask some web master to give me permission and help in downloading it.

    Thanks again for the info.

You mean its just on my PC, just like that, I don't need to <font color=red>steal</font color=red> it? Wow!!!

    Way to Go <img src=/S/bravo.gif border=0 alt=bravo width=16 height=30> !!!

Do I need any special software, like Dreamweaver, or DirectX or what have you to slap in into a PowerPoint Presentation?

BTW I copied EVERYTHING with the .swf or Shockwave type, so I'll need to know which one it is, because the names are goofy <img src=/S/hairout.gif border=0 alt=hairout width=31 height=23>

    Thanks again.

    Hi, Wassim ~

You don't need to copy all the .swf files. Look at the source like you mentioned above and you will find a reference to the exact file name ususally just above the section you included in your post. It would read as the bold section in the following, for example:

    "<param name=movie value="/images/index_files/Wassim.swf">"
    or
    "<embed src="images/index_files/Wassim.swf" quality=high>"

If you have PowerPoint, you can simply embed it into a presentation using these directions.

    <P ID="edit" class=small>(Edited by DaveA on 14-May-03 19:29. )</P> <img src=/S/hello.gif border=0 alt=hello width=25 height=29> Dave

I send it to you when I get it off of my laptop. Its a presentation about Internet Crime, and I am involved in Computer Forensics Examination, still learning, and need to make a presentation about Internet Scams.

The graphics are superb, and that is why I was salivating over them, the meat of the PowerPoint presentation is done, but now the graphics wowed me.

    The URL is:

http://www.usdoj.gov/06employment/iteo/flash.html and then click on the skip Intro, and then the lower Right hand corner you will see a button "Internet Crimes"

    Enjoy

You will find in you internet temp files as "flash.swf". That is where I found it on my machine. But remember if you are using NT, 2K or XP; it will be in the Cocuments and Settings"user name"Local SettingsTemporary Internet Files.

    It is 111KB in size

Good news, maybe: works made available by the United States Federal government are not always protected by the Copyright Act. (See Section 105 warning: large document - works created by the government are copyright free, but works transferred to the government by others may be protected.)

    Either way, this doesn't mean they aren't watching you. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15>
