file order (xp home sr1)

In windows explorer I have my file view set for alphabetical order. And the files that start with letters are in order. But those that start with numbers are all mixed up. Such as 234 listed before 034 ect. Is there a way to view them in order?

Edited by WyllyWylly to add URL code. See the Quick Guide.[/i]

The info from this Microsoft KB article will give you an idea on how numbers are sorted

So MS has decided that file names are no longer just plain character strings. Instead they have morphed into super(?) strings complete with embedded numerical values? Is the next stage to replace words that represent numbers with their numerical values too? Could get tricky in multilingual environments.

Ok. I read the article and the links in the article. As I already have sp1, I think they are telling me to just live with it. I am looking forward to XP version 2. I bet it will be a very good OS. In the meantime I will leave 98-2 on all my other computers, this XP is good, but not quite ready for prime time. Thanks for the reply.
