ACCESS XP - MAKE MDE (2002 )

I'm a new user of Access XP and recently was looking to make an MDE file. The option under Tools/Database Utilities/Make MDE is disabled. How can I enable this feature? I have looked in help but it only tells how to use it but not how to enable it.

I guess the db is 2000 format as you can see on the database title bar something like this.

<The database name> : Database (Access 2000 file format)

You have to convert the db to XP format. Just goto Tools menu>Database Utilities>Convert Database>To 2002 File Format.

Then try again.
