Adding shortcut keys to macros (XL97/WinNT4)

When you record a macro, the screen where you name the macro gives you the option to choose a shortcut key that will run this macro in future.

Can anyone tell me how you go about adding a shortcut key to a macro that has already been recorded?! I can't seem to find anything to help!

    Many thanks

Select Tools | Macro | Macros... (in Excel)
Select one of the macros in the list, then click Options...
In the options dialog, you can set (or clear) the shortcut key and description for the macro.
If you type a lower case letter in the shortcut box, the shortcut will be Ctrl+letter.
If you type an upper case letter (Shift+letter), the shortcut will be Ctrl+Shift+letter.
Unfortunately, you can't see whether the shortcut you assign was already in use. This is another regrettable difference with Word.

    Thanks again, Hans! <img src=/S/thankyou.gif border=0 alt=thankyou width=40 height=15>

Is it just chance that you're getting to my questions first, and so quickly, or are you really answering the lion's share of the questions at the moment?!

    Whichever it is, you're doing a sterling job! <img src=/S/groovin.gif border=0 alt=groovin width=21 height=21>

I concentrate on a few boards. If you start asking questions in .NET, or Frontpage, or Networking, and many other forums, I won't even read them, let alone reply. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
